Title: Jaded (3 Part Serial Romance)
Author: Ali Parker
Publication Date: April 15, 2015
As a photographer for the New York Post, Kari Martin was used to seeing heartache and scandal up close. But one night at the club… her whole world changed. Heartbroken and willing to call off her wedding, she decides a change is in order and moves from NYC to a small town in Maine, where the average age of the residents there is sixty (or thereabouts). She works to fit in perfectly, and tries like hell not to let anyone find out just how very jaded she’s recently become over the lie called love.
Jake Isaac left Texas quite a few years ago; his heart torn from his chest, and his mind set on being a bachelor forever. Maine would welcome him, give him land to explore and a community to belong to. Getting a job as the coach of the local junior high and serving on the fire department kept him busy — and labeled him a hometown hero — but the truth of his damaged heart was forever hidden.
No one would ever know just how jaded he was about love. That is… until he meets Kari.

My Review
Kari and her friends are out enjoying her last night of being single. That's right, tomorrow she is to be married. There is something interesting going on in the club they are in and when she sees it has to do with her fiance she is not only embarrassed but extremely upset. She begins to think it's time for a change and so she packs up and moves away. When she meets the sexy guy in the grocery store and he gives her advice on wine she doesn't really think she will see him anytime soon. Imagine her surprise to find he is the person she is interviewing and photographing for the local paper.
They are constantly running into each other and her friends and brother tell her it's fate. When she takes a chance and asks him out and is turned down she spirals into a depressed state. This is where I feel like she is overreacting...yes you just had a horrible thing happen to you with the guy you had been with for such a long time, yes it's humiliating, but girlfriend you can't blame everything on yourself. I just really felt like she was putting all the blame on herself for everything and freaking out about it.
They continue to dance around each other until they finally go out on an official date and it couldn't have gone better I thought. They each found out about the others horrible experiences and found they were on the same path. I loved how cute they are together but I did get a bit upset with Jake when he receives bad news and has to fly back home and doesn't ask her to go with him....hello....rude much... he really didn't handle that well at all and left her in a world of worry.
Now having finished all three of the serial I have to say that I did really enjoy watching them come together when they were in such dark places of their own, and I really like the way the author worded things to explain a feeling. I am rating the serial in at four hearts because I not only enjoyed it but I cannot wait to read more by the author.
