Strange Addiction ( The 12 Olympians #4 ) by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Brock Holloway has it all -- money, friends, a bitchin' car and a promising football career. At least, that's what people see. Inside, though, Brock is fighting for something he knows he can never have: Unconditional love. As the child of Aphrodite, he is worshipped, admired, wanted - but never loved.

Zack Duran is a wolverine shifter -- and not a nice guy. Zack's shifter side is always in control, often making him heartless and unfeeling. When Zack is assigned to guard Brock Holloway, his tactless wolverine tendencies become even more prevalent and Zack has to fight his shifter personality AND his genuine feelings for the beautiful football player.

A near tragedy shakes him to his core, and Zack can no longer fight the feelings he has for Brock. But giving in to his emotions may come at too high a price. A startling secret charges Brock with the nearly impossible task of taming Zack's beast. Is he up to the challenge? Can Zack give him what he needs? And with danger working overtime, can they finally be together as they were intended?

My Review

I was introduced   to the world of Sandrine  Gasq-Dion a few months ago when I read one of her Assassin / Shifter books. I loved it so much I made it a mission to read them all...then I found this series lol.  This is the fourth  book in The 12 Olympians series I have read. I am in love with all of these characters and their stories are incredible. The author really knows how to get inside your head and make them all a part of you and not just characters  in a book. I always get lost while reading her books and I enjoy every second of it.

We first met Brock  way back when in the Assassin / Shifter   books and the first impression we get is of a man whore. The more we learn about the people in the books though gives us a little bit of a better look into their lives. Looking at the good looking guy who everyone wants you would think he has it all, when really all he wants is to be loved. This book finally tells his story and it was more than I could have imagined, there is so much going on here that just makes you want to give poor Brock  a hug.

We were also introduced  to Zach a bit ago and his problems were astronomical,  when the two get together it makes for a seriously good read. I love the connection to the Gods, and how we are learning more about the kids powers.  The story is really coming together now and I'm hanging by the seat of my pants lol. Overall this is an excellent read and I'm rating it in at 5 hearts! I cannot wait for the next one....no seriously,  I can't freaking wait!!!

The Job ( Fox and O'Hare #3) by Janet Evan Ovid and Lee Goldberg

Description

He’s a charming con man and she’s a dedicated FBI agent, and they’re about to drive each other crazy . . . again!

The FBI had one demand when they secretly teamed up Special Agent Kate O’Hare with charming con man Nicolas Fox—bring down the world’s most-wanted and untouchable felons. This time it’s the brutal leader of a global drug-smuggling empire. The FBI doesn’t know what their target looks like, where he is, or how to find him, but Nick Fox has a few tricks up his sleeve to roust this particular Knipschildt chocolate–loving drug lord.

From the streets of Nashville to the back alleys of Lisbon, from the rooftops of Istanbul to the middle of the Thames, Nick and Kate chase their mark. When they find themselves pitted against a psychopathic bodyguard and a Portuguese enforcer who gets advice from a pickled head, they decide it’s time to enlist some special talent—talent like a machete-wielding Somali pirate, a self-absorbed actor, an Oscar-winning special effects artist, and Kate’s father Jake, a retired Special Forces operative. Together they could help make this Fox and O’Hare’s biggest win yet . . . if they survive.

My Review

***  I received this copy from NetGalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

This is the second of this series I have read, and I must say that I haven't read the first one and when I tried to read the second I couldn't get into it, but this one....well let's just say it more than made up for my uninterest in the second one. The first chapter already had me hooked not only from what was going on but from the phone call that made me laugh out loud with the caller ID name lol. I love the way the story went and the interactions  between the characters. I always wanted there to be more between them though if you know what I mean. I love the team they make and the exciting journey they make together. When someone tries to frame Fox for what would be simple crimes for him Kate goes on the search for the real criminal with the help of Fox.

This book reminds me in ways to another series of books that has a criminal helping out the good guys I'm not going to name it, but I really enjoyed that series as well. Overall with all the excitement going on and the adventure I am rating this in at 5 hearts!!!

Venomoid ( The Night Code Saga #1) by J.A. Kossler

Description

In Book One of The Night Code Saga, Venomoid, paranormal creatures are governed by the IPO, a secret police force that ensures vampires, zombies, and others follow all required public safety regulations. Among the officers is 17 year-old Lorin, the IPO's most skilled cadet. His co-workers distrust him, however, and in extreme cases barely tolerate him. As a vampire, he must follow the rules -- including turning a blind eye to the IPO's practice of torturing prisoners -- or face death by sunlight exposure.

On one intense dragon-hunting mission, Lorin encounters Lex, a handsome but flesh-eating paranormal who is quickly intrigued by the young vampire. Lorin fears this hunter, but as an unexpected friendship unfolds between the two, an even more unlikely romance blossoms. The problem is Lex is on the IPO's radar, and when they capture him for scientific experimentation, Lorin must risk his life to overthrow the organization he's always feared in order to save his love.

My Review

***I received this copy  from NetGalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

This was an excellent  beginning to this series. From the beginning I was wondering what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed reading about the zombies, werewolves and vampires. Thin go are a bit different than I'm used to reading, but it was very interesting. I was horrified when the IPO   did what they did to Lorin, as well as all the experiments they had obviously been performing on paranormals. I love Lily!!! I have always had a soft spot for dragons, as well as a healthy obsession for them lol. I can't wait for her to grow up and see what happens then.

I'm curious about this Judd character though, sometimes it seemed like he may be more than a friend, then others he was just a good buddy. I could have been just reading more into it than most though lol. I love Lex, yes he's a zombie but I really liked his character. I'm curious where Lorin's   maker cones into this as he is mentioned a bit in the end by a couple of people.

Overall this was a great read and I for one cannot wait for the next installment. I'm giving this a rating of 4 hearts.

Fair Play ( All's Fair #2) by Josh Lanyon

Description

Fifty years ago, Roland Mills belonged to a violent activist group. Now, someone is willing to kill to prevent him from publishing his memoirs.

When ex-FBI agent Elliot Mills is called out to examine the charred ruins of his childhood home, he quickly identifies the fire for what it is--arson. A knee injury may have forced Elliot out of the Bureau, but it's not going to stop him from bringing the man who wants his father dead to justice.

Agent Tucker Lance is still working to find the serial killer who's obsessed with Elliot and can't bear the thought of his lover putting himself in additional danger. Straightlaced Tucker has never agreed with radical Roland on much--"opposing political viewpoints" is an understatement--but they're united on this: Elliot needs to leave the case alone. Now.

Tucker would do nearly anything for the man he loves, but he won't be used to gain Elliot access to the FBI's resources. When the past comes back to play and everything both men had known to be true is questioned, their fragile relationship is left hanging in the balance.

My Review

***I received this copy from NetGalley  and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

Oh...my...God!!! I love a good mystery! I love a good mystery even more when there are some seriously sexy guys involved! Having not read the first book in this series, I was lost a bit on certain things, but that did not stop me from enjoying this book for what it was lol.

Tucker....oh wow.... what can you honestly say about the man? He is a bit of a handfull   though at times. But then again so is Elliot when you think about it. Now like I have stated, I am new to this relationship   but even I could tell there were a few times that seemed like people were overreacting.  It seemed like this game were not explained to each other well enough for them to understand so the misunderstandings came into play.

What I did not like about this book: I did not like Ronald and how he doesn't get what would have happened if things were done differently. I don't like how he felt he could drop a bomb then disappear. Overall I just don't like the man lol. I didn't like the ending that much either where he is involved.

What I did like was the storyline  of the book, I also loved Tucker and Elliot's  characters. Overall a good read I'm rating in at 3 hearts if I could I'd do 3 1/2 hearts.

Rocky Mountain Miracle by Christine Feehan

Description

When Cole Steele, a womanizer rumored to have killed his father, meets Maia Armstrong, a veterinarian rumored to practice magic, the sizzling romance could melt all the snow on his Wyoming ranch. And when an injured horse brings them together, Cole can’t help but believe that Maia casts spells on animals—and men. What else could explain the burning passion he feels for her and the thawing of his heart just in time for Christmas?

My Review

*** I received this copy frim NetGalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

The book started  out with a cloud of mystery that makes you wonder who killed the old man, was it Cole or his abused younger  half brother? I had fun trying to guess, then when Maia shows up in the picture  things got very interesting with mysterious  things happening around them at the ranch. There is an abused animal that really pissed me off and made me want to kill the person who did it...but at the time we didn't know who that was. Of course you will have your suspect that you think did it, and I won't ruin that for you by saying who it is.

Skipping ahead, when Cole and Maia finally get together it was so sexy and sweet at the same time. I wanted to fist pump with happiness lol. I love how she is with animals, though it's no surprise  one of the characters  has abilities that not everyone  will  have. If you have read any books by this author then  you will know what I'm talking about. The abuse that the two sons have gone through is horrible  and I am so happy that Maia doesn't try to be a therapist, but she speaks her mind about it. I think because she really cared is what made it good book it turned out to be.

What I loved: I love the characters and the things that all go through . I loved the mystery surrounding the ranch and the death of the old man. I love how exciting it is when the shit hits the fan and the truth comes out!

I didn't really have anything I didn't like except for the abuse , but that makes the book so I understood.

Overall I'm rating this book in at 5 hearts!!

A Thumb In God's Eye by Penney Rivers

Description

Penney Vickers Rivers was born in 1939 in Houston, Texas. She was raised in deep East Texas among the tall pines that blocked the sun and hid the sins and deep secrets; where the white children were born with an inherit belief that racism, bigotry and pure hate was a part of their privilege of being part of a white superior race. Her father's tales of the plight of generations beginning with their enslaved forefathers that were viewed as disposable property intrigued Penney. She married her husband Gerry and they traveled the world as he served in the military. Her experiences with different cultures and ethnicities made her realize that the intrigue that she felt as a young child was really unease and shame. It was decades later that she learned just how close to the back gate of her family home that a true horror story occurred. It was the scene of the six young innocent black men that were hung at the turn of the century. On Christmas Day 1986, when two uniformed murderers masked as deputies walked down the aisle of the jail and beat Loyal Garner to death. All of the unsettling memories as a child resurfaced. Penney attended the trail and witnessed the sanctimonious biased testimony that locals went through great efforts to close ranks around the homeboys. In her heart she saw Loyal family and sympathizers could view their efforts as a second killing of Loyal. This story was always inside her and she knew that it must be told. Are the six that were hung at the back gate calling out for their story to be told? A Thumb in God's Eye explores the history of ethnic disparity in the south. Based on actual history, it spotlights both the joys and sorrow life in another time and another world was like. And it brings to light how little some things change.

My Review

When I first met Penney Rivers I got the impression  of a woman who has seen a great many things and had so many stories to tell. In her book, she compares herself  to, "a mighty pine tree"... I have to say I agree. Now when I saw the title of the book I admit not only having curiosity  at the title, but I was dreadfully  interested  in what it was about. I absolutely  loved the book, there were moments that made me teary-eyed but it was so worth it. The book is based on a true story and I have always been interested  in  those stories as well as anything historical.  The analogies the author has makes you feel like you are there watching  things happen. While there are some things in the book that not everyone  will agree with, it's refreshing  to know that Penney wrote it anyway and if you don't like it so what. As with any book there are some things I could have done without, but overall I enjoyed the book as well as the part in the book where you find out the meaning behind  the title of the book. When I read it I had that ahaa   moment lol .  Can't wait for more by this author.

Play Me Right ( Play Me #5) by Tracy Wolff

Description

Good things never have to end. Tracy Wolff, the New York Times bestselling author of Ruined and Addicted, brings her eBook original serial to an unforgettable climax in Play Me’s sensational finale . . . for now.

My name is Aria Winston. I’ve fought desperately to escape the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas. Now I’m in control of my own life and my own destiny . . . but my future belongs to Sebastian Caine.

Technically, Aria may still be in one piece, but she’s feeling pretty damn close to broken. While she knows Sebastian would die before hurting her, their intense, steamy encounters have opened up old wounds in them both. Now Aria is considering the unthinkable: walking away again—this time to save Sebastian from the pain she knows her past will cause him. But Sebastian’s the one who set her free in the first place—how can she not show him the same care and compassion? Because, in the end, being together forever is the only thing that feels right.

Play Me is an erotic serial intended for mature audiences.

My Review

*** I received  this copy from Netgalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

Oh my Gosh!!! What a conclusion to this series!!! My only complaint  is that it left us hanging and waiting for another one!! We again start this book where book four left off at but three days later. Aria has been absent from Sebastian  for that long and he is going crazy with worry that he pushed her too far. While he is worrying  she is out dealing with stuff as well. When they finally get together it's because he drags her away from her work and into his office to talk....well first comes a sensual   sex scene that is hot as hell lol, then we get the nitty gritty on what happened to cause her to walk away from her family and work as a cocktail  waitress. To sum it up quickly  her parents are monsters for wanting her to marry a man that was abusive and making her think family duty was above anything else. When she wised up and left, it was hard but what she needed  to do. I won't tell her whole story, so this is enough, I'll just say  that this book explains  so much and finally has me understanding Aria better. I really enjoyed this series  and I hope that there wiLloyd be another soon because I'm already dying from curiosity! I'm rating this booh in at 4 hearts.

My Review

***I received this copy from Netgalley and the publisher in return for my honest opinions.***

Ahhhhhhh...this is me screaming....what..is..going..on???!!! As always we are continuing  from where the previous  book left off, and not only do we find out who the mysterious   Janet is but we are introduced  to the story of Dylan... Janet's son and who used to be Sebastian’s  friend. The tragic story  is torn from Sebastian by Aria because she is worried  about him. After we hear the story and find out a little more about Sebastian’s  father, we are taken into another steamy scene that is very sexy but I'm just not  big on the whole hickey thing. On another note the dick billionaire Russian guy came back and made a worse dick of himself  but then he was humiliated and thrown  out again lol. I love when idiots  get what's coming to them.

Poor Sebastian  is so tormented  by the past I'm not sure Aria will be able to pull him out of that mess , and I have bad feelings that Janet as well as his father and Aria’s  father are going to cause some kind of problem  I just know it!!! Rating this one in at 4 hearts!!!

No one ever said love is easy. In the third installment of an eBook original serial from the New York Times bestselling author of Ruined and Addicted, Aria and Sebastian discover that building trust might be harder than they ever imagined.

My name is Aria Winston. I’ve fought desperately to escape the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas. Now I’m on my own, in control of my own life and my own destiny . . . just the way I like it. Until Sebastian Caine changes everything.

Ever since taking Aria under his wing and into his seductive domain, Sebastian hasn’t been able to think straight. Their chemistry is intoxicating. Their power exchange is exhilarating. And the sex leaves them both absolutely exhausted. But if there’s one thing Sebastian does know, it’s that he needs to protect this strong yet vulnerable woman. Because she has depths that are unknown—even to her. Aria has worked hard to establish herself as anything but submissive. That isn’t who she is, or who she wants to be. So why does it feel so sweet to give up control . . . and so intense when Sebastian takes care of needs she doesn’t even realize she has? But he has needs of his own—and secrets that run just as dark and deep as Aria’s.

Play Me is an erotic serial intended for mature audiences. Aria and Sebastian’s story continues in Play Me: Real.

My  Review

***I received  this  copy  from  Netgalley  and  the  publisher  in  return  for  my  honest  opinion .  ***

Well, well, well....picking up where the second  book leaves off we find Sebastian   taking Aria home to give her the care she so desperately  needs. He doesn’t  take advantage  of her state, he simply bathes her and helps her relax. When he leaves her in the earky hours of the morning he goes to another apartment  close to hers and has a weird reaction that keaves more questions than answers. We meet the mysterious  Janet, as well as have a brief glimpse  of Aria's   father......I am left wondering what in the world is going on because after that encounter  with her father she immediately  goes to Sebastian  and demands he f*** her. Again we have a sexy scene but then layer we see Janet again and she is thanking Aria for helping her but then starts screaming murderer at Sebastian ! !!! What is going in???? Who is Janet...I'm assuming  she is the one from the apartment  he went to, but what is with the name calling??? Can't wait to  read the next one! My Review

***I received  this  copy  from  Netgalley  and  the  publisher  in  return  for  my  honest  opinion .  ***

This one picks up right where the last one left us hanging, but what follows is some seriously hot and steamy sex....Seriously  the whole book is about their encounter  in his office, and while I'm all for a great sex scene, and this one was really good, but I'm just disappointed  the way he let's her leave. I've read enough  of these kinds of books and know that he made a mistake  in doing that. Following that mistake we follow  her around the floor on her job where she isn't acting  herself. He comes to see what's up with her and that about sums it up for book twould which is why this book also is rating in at 3 hearts.

My Review

***I received  this copy from Netgalley and the publisher  in return  for  my honest opinions . ***

This is such a short read it's hard for me to really write a long review so I'll do the best I can...

While we get an idea of our main characters   from this first installment  of the Play Me Series, I was left feeling a little let down that it was so stinking short lol. I was into it from the beginning  when our heroine shows a rich dick   just what she thinks of him. This is when we finally meet our hero lol, he sounded sexy as hell I'll give you that.  After she is basically  punished for defending someone  else, he sees the incident for what it was and let's her have her job back but let's her know he is extremely  attracted to her.

What I liked about this book :

I love how even though  she knows she will probably  lose her job, she still defends someone else from a nasty situation . I loved how the chemistry  between the main characters  seems to burn so hot. I loved how Sebastian  took care of the rich dick   as well lol.

What I didn't like about the book:

I did not like how she was trying to get help and no one was willing  to do anything  just because the guy was a billionaire .

Overall   I would rate this book in at 3 hearts!!
