Slashed (Extreme Risk #3) by Tracy Wolff

23430728   Do nice guys always finish last? In the new Extreme Risk novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff, a burnt-out underdog and a vulnerable tomboy defy the pressure to be perfect and go after what they really want.

Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.

Cam hangs out almost exclusively with dudes, and that’s fine by her. She’d much rather be shredding at the Olympics than primping in the mirror. Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.

My Review

***I received this ARC from NetGalley and the Author in return for my honest opinions. All opinions are my own.***

I love friends to lovers books. There is always the love and frustration in the beginning and the secrecy to keep things from everyone else. This is the first book in this series I have read so I was a bit lost as to who everyone was and what they were talking about at times, however, with that being said....I really enjoyed the book. It wasn't everything I thought it would be...it actually made me mad more than once. I'm  not a 100% that the description does this book justice.

Cam is totally clueless at times and that drives me crazy, when she just goes ape-shit cray-cray over her mother being back...while I do understand to a certain extent...I feel like she could have handled it a tiny bit differently. Obviously she has issues with coming to terms with things of importance...I mean just look at how she runs away from things with Luc and leaves him hanging.

I did at times really enjoy their chemistry and all the friends being there for everyone, but then there were times I wanted to tell them they were not helping in the way they should have been. Overall it is a good book, good story-line and there are good characters. I am rating it in at 3 Stars!!

Breaking a Legend (Kavanagh Legends #1) by Sarah Robinson

24457496  Perfect for fans of Katy Evans and Monica Murphy, Sarah Robinson’s blistering-hot series debut introduces the Kavanagh brothers—mixed martial arts fighters who work hard, play hard, and love with all their hearts.

As one of the big names at his family’s gym, Legends, MMA star Rory Kavanagh is used to being in the spotlight—until a gruesome leg injury knocks him out of the cage. Rory is left feeling sidelined in more ways than one, battling the inner demons that come with losing the one shot at his dreams. Then Clare walks into his life and gives him a new dream: winning her heart. There aren’t many new faces in Woodlawn these days, but this tough, beautiful stranger makes Rory want to get his life back into fighting shape.

Clare Ivers doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell anyone what really brought her to the close-knit Bronx neighborhood where she just started bartending. But her life’s on pause and her past is catching up fast, try as she might to move on—with new friends, steady work, and a chiseled alpha male trying to get her attention. Even though Rory’s more than a little intense, she can’t deny that her heart beats faster when he looks at her with those soulful silver eyes. Clare thought she was done with love, but Rory might just be man enough to show her she thought wrong.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My Review

First off.... ***I received this ARC from NetGalley and the Author in return for my honest opinions. All opinions are my own.***

Secondly....This cover!!! Whew!!! To be perfectly honest, it was the main reason I even looked at this book the first time! The cover just grabbed my attention and made me drool, then the Title got to me and I was like ohhhhh hell yea lol.  After reading the description I was hooked.

I loved getting to see how things were in the beginning for Rory and what he went through. It gave us a little insight into his mind. Here he is thinking he is unbeatable and wham...the unthinkable happens. Fast forward a year and not only is he still not fighting, he is hooked on the pills and alcohol. He is going downhill fast and his family knows it. When he meets Clare the first time I obviously knew she was going to turn his life around, however, the way she goes about it so unintentionally made it all the more entertaining.

Clare has gone through some crap in her own way..and even though I wish from the very beginning we had a glimpse of what her past was like...just as we did Rory... I did so very much enjoy getting to know this character. I loved the interactions between Clare and Rory from the very beginning. Clare is sassy and shy all at the same time which is a bit of an anomaly lol. But it works very well the way the author has put this character together.

Ahhh Ace...what a dog he is! I fell in love with him instantly and wish I could love on him! I love rescues!! I love Rory all the more for what he does as well. The fact that Ace liked Clare from the beginning...well...that just says a lot if you know dogs. I was told from a very young age... "Dogs are a great judge of character. If they don't like someone...stay clear of em'." Those were words my grandfather told me and I have kept them near and dear to my heart. They have served me well!

All in all, Clare and Rory's story was a sweet one, there were moments of tension and moments of me wanting to scream in frustration at Clare for sure, poor Rory is giving everything his all and Clare turns stupid not once but twice. Ugh!!! Anyway, after getting over it lol, I have to say I am rating the book in at FOUR STARS!!!! I loved the story, the characters and their struggles. Very good read! Cannot wait for the next one! Those Kavanagh's are something else lol.

Just a Bit Wrong (Straight Guys #4) by Alessandra Hazard

26127309  Zach Hardaway is one of the best physiotherapists in Europe.

Tristan DuVal is a young soccer star with a groin injury.

They despise each other from the moment they meet.

As far as Zach is concerned, Tristan is a rich, spoiled brat who is too used to getting his own way.

As far as Tristan is concerned, Zach is a bossy, presumptuous prick.

Tristan hates Zach. He does. The problem is, he also wants to shove Zach against the nearest wall and climb him like a tree.

Warning: explicit MM content, minor D/s undertones.

My Review

***I received this ARC from the author in return for my honest opinions. All opinions are my own and no compensation has been exchanged.***

I have loved this series by Alessandra Hazard, the characters are always complex and have inner turmoil going on that they try to hide for the outside world. Tristan is no different. On the outside he appears to be a spoiled brat that uses people to get his own way. In the last book we got a look at his brother Gabe and how they disliked each other but after reading this one I didn't dislike Tristan as much as I did in that book.

Tristan is suffering from a severe groin injury and is having to be treated by Zach. Zach is yummy scrumptious by the way lol. When Tristan doesn't get his way by simply batting his eyes he is thrown for a loop and isn't sure why he is so attracted to such a bossy asshole. Zach on the other hand has always considered himself straight and cannot figure out why Tristan causes him to be angry and wanting to give him a badly needed spanking one minute and the next wanting to throw him down and ravish him.

I loved reading their story and getting that inside view at how poor Tristan has that inner turmoil going on and how he really isn't as cocky as he seems. When they finally give in to their desires it was sad to watch them pretend it wasn't anything more than just scratching that itch, even when Tristan was curling up into himself and really just wanting to be loved by someone.

When an even more serious situation presents itself I loved how Zach ran to the man he has found himself in love with. I also loved how Gabe apparently does have feelings for his brother besides disdain. Another great read by this author and again I can't wait for the next story!!! Rating this one in at Five Stars!!!

Juliet can shimmy her hips whenever she wants.

But it’s too bad those hips attract so much attention. Juliet might just have a sinister problem of her own. In the form of one hell of an alpha male who wants nothing more than to destroy her…and to sensually devour her body.

*This is a 20,000 word novella*

My Review

***I have received this ARC from the author in return for my honest opinions. I have not been compensated for them and all opinions formed are my own.***

After reading the first novella in this series, I was very anxious to see where Scarlett Dawn was going to go with the story next! Blood Tree Part One was very exciting and gave us a look at Kenna and everything she was going through before her Blood Tree Ceremony and as I have previously stated it was such an exciting read because there was darkness as well as light but in this novella....Holy crap has Scarlett Dawn turned everything upside down on me!!!

In this one we get the inside look at Kenna's mom...and her DAD!!! How she got to be an Outsider and what the hell had happened in her life. I was SHOCKED and THROWN FOR A LOOP at the inside look of Juliet's life! I NEVER for one second thought about who Kenna's father would be and OMG was I excited to see where the story was going. I love how we get to see not only the dark elf being his arrogant and controlling self but we also get to see a side to him that makes him more human of sorts. He is mad at Juliet because she has tried to keep Kenna hidden all these years and he basically tells her if she hadn't been such a good mother he would have tortured her and killed her for it. But then that side I was talking about came out and he let it slip that Kenna is his only child in all these years...LIFETIME... and since Juliet was the one to conceive with him she was about to become his baby maker lol.

I absolutely loved the book...as always Scarlett Dawn draws me into her stories and it is as if I am there with the characters feeling their pain and happiness. She always describes things so well that it is like watching a movie in my head...Oh what would I give for all of her books to become a TV Series or Movies!! Granted they never are as good as the original books, but it would be incredible to see.

It should come as no surprise that I am rating this one in at five stars and again I find myself very anxiously awaiting the next installment!!!!

Fret (The Rock #1) by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Former Navy SEAL Axel Blaze lives a solitary life. He doesn't do emotions, and he doesn't do babysitting. Used to being on his own, his job consists of Wetwork (a charming term coined by the KGB) for his former Master Chief, Mac. When an out-of-the-ordinary job lands on his doorstep, Axel heads down a path that includes a famous heavy metal rock band and one quiet, vulnerable, guitar-shredding virtuoso named Gareth Wolf.

Gareth Wolf's life changed in an instant when a car he was a passenger in crashed, hurting his brother's best friend and the band's lead guitarist. They created the band, Skull Blasters, as kids. Gareth had always been happy in the background, playing roadie. With the lead guitarist's injury, Gareth is suddenly thrust into the limelight and into a frenzied life he never imagined for himself. Finally fed up with living a lie, Gareth comes out as gay in a newspaper interview and finds himself in the bulls-eye of a crazed stalker. Somebody wants Gareth hurt - or worse - and Mac has been hired to be sure that doesn't happen. Babysitting duty is NOT Axel's strong suit, but Mac won't be budged.

Enter Axel Blaze. Against his better judgment, the big man takes the job to protect the shy musician. The more time he spends with Gareth Wolf, the more he admires the man. Where's a simple assassination when you need one? The situation becomes more volatile for each man as the attempts on Gareth escalate just as Axel finds himself falling for the quiet lead guitarist.
Strong, funny, smart-ass -- and kinda sweet Axel is everything Gareth has ever wanted in a man. Too bad he's off limits. As the stalker grows bolder, Gareth and Axel move closer emotionally - but is it too late? All Axel knows is that they don't stand a chance if he can't find the maniac trying to kill the man he's come to care about. A lot.

Everyone knows that relationships that begin in pressured or volatile situations eventually fizzle out. Or do they?

MY REVIEW

I do so love SEALS those guys are just massively hot lol. My Review:

Fall (Cold Mark #1)

I had actually read this one awhile back but I just did some binge reading after reading the third book in this series. I wanted to re-read them to make sure I remembered everything the way I needed to....plus I was craving me some Scarlett Dawn lol. I really loved the beginning to this series and felt horribly for Braita but I did feel as if she overreacted a tiny bit without letting the guys explain what was going on...plus from my perspective the guys are hot and dang but I find it sexy when two hot guys are getting it on lol. I know where she is from touching is against the law, so it makes sense that she would be shocked, plus what else they did would have hurt and pissed me off as well, but again I feel she should have stuck around for an explanation of sorts from them. Love the book rated it in at five hearts!!!

Sink (Cold Mark #2)

Again, I had read this series before but I apparently never wrote a review for it sooooo....here goes lol.... Another great book, I love how much trouble Braita seems to get herself into lol. I especially love how she calls them "cows" without meaning to, it always makes me laugh. This book finds Braita with her friend Jax and two other seriously hot Mian guys who apparently find her to their liking. While she had met them previously and felt an attraction to them I seriously loved their interactions in this book. I never got exactly what I wanted from it lol but overall I was happy with the way things went. I am seriously wondering about the connection she is having with these four guys....Plus what is up with Jax???

Stop (Cold Mark #3)

*** I received this ARC from the author in return for my honest opinions. ***

NOTE TO READERS....... Be prepared to be blown away! Not only has she done it again but she has left us hanging and waiting anxiously for the next installment! ! OMG Jax....well you just read it for yourselves! I'm rating it five hearts!!

Rise (Cold Mark #4)

OMG Scarlett picks up right where the last one left off and without and problems brings us right back into the story. I personally couldn't believe how long poor Jax and Braita had to wait to find out their fates, but I loved the drama and descriptions of what happens while they wait lol. When Rule steps into the picture I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. ...I actually liked the basted lol...but I loved the outcome. ..Totally rocked! Also new character ..Geo...yummy. I guess the more violent they are the better I love em'!! I am so impatient right now awaiting the next installment that I physically threatened the author.....not that I would really do it haha...to shake her till the words for the next book come spewing out! I rated Rise in at 5 hearts because I love how the story is coming along and even though the outcome is up In the air at this point I'm curious what will happen!!!

Soar (Cold Mark #5)

***I received this ebook from the author in return for my honest opinions. All opinions are my own.***

Holy cow batman!!! For those of us who have religiously followed Braita's quest for freedom as well as love, you will be greatly excited to find out....what you find out!!! HAHA you really thought I would tell you what happens? Crazy people..as if lol.

I will tell you, that while this is the conclusion of Briata's story, that you will either be happy or disappointed in the choices that she makes. I personally have been going in this direction for awhile but I do so love being difficult.

I have loved this story and all the excitement and trouble that Braita seems to find herself in. I have been sad with her and I have been extremely happy with her. I am a hardcore Scarlett Dawn fan as I have been since I accidentally found her and read King Hall lol. The characters she creates and shares with us have the ability to bring us into their worlds and their problems. It isn't like reading a book where you get bored and just rush through it to finish, no, with any and all of the books by her I've read, I cannot put the dang thing down. I have never been disappointed nor have I felt as if it is repetitive as with some other authors I have read. It is always a new journey with new and exciting things in store for us.

I am rating this fabulous book in at five hearts and as always I cannot freaking wait to read more by her!!!!

PROLOGUE
CALI

I know this man well enough to know when something's up. He doesn't skip a meal. He generally refuses to miss bedtime stories with our daughter, and he never leaves the house without a word.
Unless something is wrong.
Something's wrong.
I poke my head into the garage and squeeze through the dozens of boxes near the doorway. I hear grunting, heavy breathing and the sound of metal clinking against metal—I can smell the sweat from here.
I make my way out of the boxes, lean against a pillar and fold my arms over my chest in hopes of an explanation. An excuse. Anything.
The weights thud against the cement and Tango reaches across the bench for his rag, which he drags across his forehead, slowly, purposely avoiding my cold stare. "Is Tyler already asleep?" he asks before removing the rag from his eyes.
"After four books and counting two-hundred sheep, yes, she's asleep." I move in closer, arching a brow, giving him the look I know he's trying desperately to ignore. "What is it?"
He drops the rag and repositions his weights against the wall, lining them up meticulously, giving himself a little more time to answer my simple question. "Just working out, baby."
"Don't baby me. You only pump hundreds when something’s up."
He takes a couple of deep breaths and looks at me with his shamrock green eyes, giving me the Bambi stare, as if I'm going to melt from his loving gaze. It usually works, but I weakened to be strong tonight. Something is wrong. I know it. "There's nothing to worry about." He cups his hand around my cheek, lifting my chin to look at him. "Remember, I’ll tell you if there's something to worry about."
The last time he said that to me, a scientist who held him hostage for almost a year showed up at one of his jobs and, without warning, made him leave the country for a week. I got a text message from him telling me not to worry. Then his phone was shut off. All I knew was that my husband didn't come home from work that day, and our little girl cried for him at bedtime every night for a week. He reminds me constantly that he signed a deal with the devil, but it was so he didn't have to live with him. I get it in theory, but God, why does there have to be such a high price for breathing?
"Just tell me if you're going to disappear again. Because I swear to God, Tango, if that happens again, I'll go looking for you."
He takes my hand, the hand I'm trying to keep from shaking, and lays it on his heart as he pulls me into him. "If I disappear, you're coming with me."
