Breaking a Legend (Kavanagh Legends #1) by Sarah Robinson

24457496  Perfect for fans of Katy Evans and Monica Murphy, Sarah Robinson’s blistering-hot series debut introduces the Kavanagh brothers—mixed martial arts fighters who work hard, play hard, and love with all their hearts.

As one of the big names at his family’s gym, Legends, MMA star Rory Kavanagh is used to being in the spotlight—until a gruesome leg injury knocks him out of the cage. Rory is left feeling sidelined in more ways than one, battling the inner demons that come with losing the one shot at his dreams. Then Clare walks into his life and gives him a new dream: winning her heart. There aren’t many new faces in Woodlawn these days, but this tough, beautiful stranger makes Rory want to get his life back into fighting shape.

Clare Ivers doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell anyone what really brought her to the close-knit Bronx neighborhood where she just started bartending. But her life’s on pause and her past is catching up fast, try as she might to move on—with new friends, steady work, and a chiseled alpha male trying to get her attention. Even though Rory’s more than a little intense, she can’t deny that her heart beats faster when he looks at her with those soulful silver eyes. Clare thought she was done with love, but Rory might just be man enough to show her she thought wrong.

My Review

First off.... ***I received this ARC from NetGalley and the Author in return for my honest opinions. All opinions are my own.***

Secondly....This cover!!! Whew!!! To be perfectly honest, it was the main reason I even looked at this book the first time! The cover just grabbed my attention and made me drool, then the Title got to me and I was like ohhhhh hell yea lol.  After reading the description I was hooked.

I loved getting to see how things were in the beginning for Rory and what he went through. It gave us a little insight into his mind. Here he is thinking he is unbeatable and wham...the unthinkable happens. Fast forward a year and not only is he still not fighting, he is hooked on the pills and alcohol. He is going downhill fast and his family knows it. When he meets Clare the first time I obviously knew she was going to turn his life around, however, the way she goes about it so unintentionally made it all the more entertaining.

Clare has gone through some crap in her own way..and even though I wish from the very beginning we had a glimpse of what her past was like...just as we did Rory... I did so very much enjoy getting to know this character. I loved the interactions between Clare and Rory from the very beginning. Clare is sassy and shy all at the same time which is a bit of an anomaly lol. But it works very well the way the author has put this character together.

Ahhh Ace...what a dog he is! I fell in love with him instantly and wish I could love on him! I love rescues!! I love Rory all the more for what he does as well. The fact that Ace liked Clare from the beginning...well...that just says a lot if you know dogs. I was told from a very young age... "Dogs are a great judge of character. If they don't like someone...stay clear of em'." Those were words my grandfather told me and I have kept them near and dear to my heart. They have served me well!

All in all, Clare and Rory's story was a sweet one, there were moments of tension and moments of me wanting to scream in frustration at Clare for sure, poor Rory is giving everything his all and Clare turns stupid not once but twice. Ugh!!! Anyway, after getting over it lol, I have to say I am rating the book in at FOUR STARS!!!! I loved the story, the characters and their struggles. Very good read! Cannot wait for the next one! Those Kavanagh's are something else lol.
