The Companions( The Sundering Book 1)

The beginning of this book confused me to no end. I had to go back and read it carefully two times to make heads or tails of it because it kept switching back and forth between the past and the present and different areas. I'm not sure still to this day what was going on except there was a little girl that had some powers that I guess was born again and wasn't really a little girl? Then there was a battle in the future and she dies and they are all in this place together? I have no clue and honestly I'm not going to finish the rest of the book because I don't understand half of what I"m reading. I apologize.

A Serving of Scandal

I downloaded this book sometime ago and just didn't really get around to reading it because I would start it then become uninterested. This happened a few times until I came to the conclusion this book just wasn't for me. It has taken me months to even make it to chapter three and that is so unusual for me. I give up.

The girl in the Plain Brown Wrapper

Travis and Helena had a wonderful love affair after the tragic death of her husband a long time ago and after that brief, affair they parted ways never to see each other again. Years later he receives a letter from Helena requesting his help with one of her daughters who after a second miscarriage is suicidal and also telling him that she herself has terminal cancer. Now Travis isn't around her when she dies and only arrives home to a letter from her lawyer with a check for $25,000 and instructions on on a final job for her. She wants Travis to help her daughter and feels he is the only one that can get through to her. His love for her and her family make this a not so difficult decision and he heads to Florida immediately. But what he finds there is worse than what his dear friend could have ever expected. First there is the couple that try to kill him because they think he is there because of Maurie's husband Tom, then the woman who tried to kill him turns up dead. What are all these meds they are shoving on Maurie and does she really need them?  Even though the book started out a little slow I have to say I loved every minute of it and when it ended I wanted more. I can honestly say I would rate this book a four out of five stars.

The Marriage Merger

This book was better than I had hoped it would be. From the description of it I knew I wanted to read it, but I was afraid it was going to be another book that would fall below par. I was totally wrong on so many levels and for that I am grateful! I loved the characters and the problems they each faced. I love how the author stressed how important family is and how they would be there to help out in a any kind of situation. I would love to see a book about Wolfe sometime in the future. I feel there are great things in store for him and he needs a good woman to help him move on from the pain he has inside. I would also love to know if somewhere down the line Julietta and Sawyer have kids because I know he will be scared but he will make an amazing father, just look at how he treats Wolfe.

When we first meet Julietta I feel a little sorry for her being the age she is and not having known true love or even great sex for that matter. She feels like she cannot achieve an orgasm at all and for that I hated her past lovers. Then she meets gorgeous Sawyer and they team up for business only he wants more from her than she is willing to give. Finally they  make it to the bedroom for some hot and steamy sex and I have to say it was all done very tastefully. Once she finally gives in to him she realizes what she has been missing out on all these years. I really enjoyed reading about him chasing her. He is one determined man and she was almost an ice queen in her refusals.

This book I would rate at a four out of five stars and recommend it to anyone wanting a good read.

Twerp

This book starts out introducing us to our main character and telling us something happened that wasn't his fault. As punishment for this thing that happened he has to write an essay. His teacher has told him if he can continue to write through the school year he will not have to do any of the Shakespeare assignments. This convinces him to write about every event that has had a significant effect on his life up till now. He write of how he accidentally stoned a bird, and even how an accident with some friends led to one of them having their eyebrows burned off...well blown off  more like. He is a smart kid and his friend Lonnie tries to convince him to write a love letter to this girl that he likes for Lonnie. Lonnie says he can't do it because he can't spell very well or put the words together right.  After writing the letter I knew the girl was going to like him better than Lonnie I could see it coming and that's exactly what happens then poor Lonnie is heartbroken and refuses to be friends with Julian saying he betrayed their friendship. There is  a lot of drama that made me laugh but also made me feel sorry for them all especially when the girl chooses someone else. I did like the character Eduardo he seemed like a great kid. I read this book to my kids to get their opinions on it and they loved it so overall I would have to rate this book a four out of five. It teaches about how to do right and what you should do if you have done something wrong, so its great.

White Trash Beautiful

She meets a gorgeous stranger in the diner she works at and falls hard. Thats not hard since her current boyfriend is so physically ans mentally abusive. He is a drug addict as well and has gotten her mother hooked on drugs as well.Things get a little crazy here with the sneaking around and stuff then she decides to be with Tucker and they go to pack some stuff. While he waits for her she finds something terrible at home and things are really bad for awhile for her and Tucker. When things get out of hand she runs away. This pissed me off to no end. Why is it she couldn't run to save her life from the creep but from the good guy she runs. Overall I would rate this a three out of five.

The Silver Chain ( Book One of the Unbreakable Trilogy)

The Silver Chain(Book 1 of the Unbreakable Trilogy)
Primula Bond
Publication Release: July 4, 2013

I am a huge fan of Fifty Shades of Grey as well as the Stark Trilogy and a few others that got their ideas from Fifty Shades, but I have to say it is starting to get a little old. There is always the billionaire or millionaire who has issues with something in their past and needs the help of a woman to get him past his pain and confusion. Then there is always a woman that has some deep emotional trauma of some kind and becomes way to emotionally involved with said man way to quickly.  This one is no different, except that the beginning left something to be desired for me. I had a hard time getting into it to begin with, however I really wanted to finish this book so I forced myself past the boring part and on and on I went until I met said confused, sexy, dominating and older man. I did like his description, I could totally picture him and found him attractive. Now our heroine, she  is beautiful and emotionally challenged you could put it and she is of course already ready to take said man home or let him take her home and ravish her. I did feel their connection, and I was curious how it would play out, but when she really started getting on my nerves was when he asks her to go with him to his old home to help clear out the place and get it ready to sell. It still has some of his ex-wife's things in it and she goes nuts. I mean crazy as a baboon. I was like what in the hell is wrong with this girl. He is no better taking her for a horse ride then leaving her behind even when she falls and hurts herself? What?? Then when he comes back he of course apologizes and all is forgiven, to a degree anyway. Now back to her being loony, his ex was into dominatrix stuff so there is the leather outfit that I can kind of picture as if it is from American Horror Story sort of.  Crazy girl puts it on....may I remind you now that this WAS his ex's clothes....WHAT??? Pardon the yelling but that is what I was saying in my head most of the book. Now I did like that there isn't a collar, however, there is a bracelet that he attaches a chain too and there were a couple of times when he holds up the chain like you would to a dog to get it excited about going on a walk for example. Again...WHAT?? She always goes to him until she loses her mind and breaks free then heads back home. He doesn't chase her like I would have liked...I wanted to see him pissed about the whole running away thing... But lets her go about her business. Now I may not have been very kind in my review of this book, but it was a decent book. There was some steamy sexual scenes that can get your heart going a little faster, but overall I would rate this a two and a half out of five.

The Demon Lovers Boxed Set

Unbalanced: The first book in the boxed set in which we meet Addie who has lost her job, gotten drunk and is walking home. Unbeknownst to her she stumbles into something she never could have imagined. Hearing a cry for help leads her to a broken woman bleeding who bites her and says something about a curse and being hunted. Then when she finally makes it home she wakes up to find two gorgeous men in her home telling her she is their fulcrum. They take her to train her and she falls in love. There is one really decent sex scene but it could have been better I feel.

Unbound: The second book in the boxes set has me feeling like I am watching a series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel with the way some of the action goes on. At least that is what I picture as I am reading. In this book one of Addie's men Jett has been bitten by another demon and has reverted back to his demonic form. He accidentally hurts her by changing ino this form during sex with her and Locan. Logan informs her she has to have sex with Jett in demon form and bite him to change him back. Easier said than done since Jett is now twice the size of himself. After much running around Jett knocks Lovan out and grabs Addie and runs off with her. When she is able to have sex with him I have to say I wasn't impressed especially with the description of what his demon looks like. I mean come on at least make him an attractive demon and not the way he looks.

Unmasked: Third book in the series wasn't doing it for me, I'm not sure what it was about it I didn't like.  We do learn more about where all these demons are coming from and how to get rid of some of them. Also that some of them aren't as bad as they appeared to be. This book takes our trio to Hollywood to a movie set where demons are using humans and what's new about that right. Well we meet a new cute little demon that I believe we will see more of since he had some extra book time. I'm a little confused as to why there wasn't more information as to why Addie want invisible to the main bad demon when she should have been though. It just confused me. As always there is some sex that is hot and steamy and although it is getting better I'm still not that impressed as there is so much more that could be done with this trio!

Unleashed: this book takes us forward to six months into the trios relationship they are in for something interesting this time around. They are called to Hawaii to help the goddess Pele who we find out Locan has had history with. She wants him they agree on one night. During this night he is kidnapped by her sister who is a terrible goddess and who torments and tortures him sexually. It's not a good way either, I feel so sorry for him. We also have a new character, a hell-hound that Addie decides to keep and loves ( not that way) but he belongs to someone and he won't say who. There is some secretive stuff going on with Locan in this book something about a dark part of him inside he has to deal with that the bad goddess has brought to life. I wonder what's next for this crazy trio.

UndauntedThe final book in the boxed set finds us with Az, the hell-hound, having turned into a human. His owner is hunting for him and has taken some humans captive. The trio is now willing to help their friend but they feel something more than friendship for the man also. When Addie is taken to hell instead of Az, he tells the guys he will trade places with her so she can come back if there isn't any other way. They obviously find another way and our happy trio become a happy quad. There is a massive battle in here that has to be read to do it justice so I'm not spilling the beans!!! There is some discussion between the powers that be and the trio as to if they really think this type of relationship would work and if so would it work for everyone. They have to agree it is a unique situation but yes it will work. In the end they get their way and stay a quad. There is some seriously sexy romance in this one and I have to say it is my favorite of the books. Az is my favorite character so far. I do wonder what lies in store for them as they continue on together, and I wonder if there is going to be a following book. All in all I really enjoyed this boxed set and would rate it a four out of five.

The Dominant

Nathaniel West doesn't lose control.

These words and this cover were what grabbed my attention and why I requested to read this book. I never read the first book in the trilogy so I missed out on that and was a little lost in the beginning but I feel that I didn't really miss that much because there was so much in this book for me.  It tells of how Nathaniel basically stalked Abby in college because he had the hots for her even then, it tells how he secretly always wanted to be with her but was afraid she wouldn't want to be in the kind of relationship he needed. It goes into the relationship that they end up having that I have a few problems with, but that is only because I am not into the whole BDSM thing that much. I don't mind reading a few of the books now and again and reviewing them but the whole laying on the floor thing and not sleeping on a bed.... nah not for me. Plus I had a problem in the beginning with how he wasn't up front with her about his feelings. I understand it may have made him look.. I dunno maybe weaker in his eyes, but a dom is supposed to be trust worthy. If you cannot trust your dom then that is a scary thing I would think. I would have reacted the same way as she did also when he acted like their night together was nothing but a scene. The way she left I was cheering her on. The way he was so depressed and his friends had to help him I did begin to feel a little sorry for him. I was happy when they got back together though and they way he went about it was right. I am ready for the final book to come out so I can read it. I wonder what is in store for them next. I would rate this a four out of five.

Lost

I started out reading this book and only made it the first couple of chapters. I really only made it the first chapter before realizing it wasn't going to be for me but I read the next chapter to check it out and then I still wasn't into it. I cannot give a good rating on it because I wasn't able to finish it so i can't rate it more than a two. I'm really disappointed because I really wanted to read this one. Maybe I'll try again some day and then I'll have to change my review who knows.

Crime of Privilege

George was invited to a party for his hero Senator Gregory. While there he doesn't even get to shake the senator's hand but instead sees two of the senators nephews raping a drunk and virtually unconscious girl.  Because he doesn't act or report this horrible act he lives with guilt but carries on with his life and graduates law school and obtains a job as an attorney in the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office on Cape Cod with the help of the Gregory family, a little "payoff" for protecting the Gregory family name.   Twelve years later a man asks George to get involved in the unsolved murder of his daughter, he believes the Gregory's have something to do with the murder.  (I laughed when I read this and thought to myself it serves you right Georgie boy. )  The only thing I really liked about this book was George trying to figure out what was right or wrong and do the right thing. He does grow a lot in the book I will give him that and Barbara his partner helps with that I think. I think the ending fizzles  a little though. I would rate this a three only because I hate George.

Diamonds and Spurs

Mandy doesn't know her husband is a sleazy scumbag until one of his clients comes to her and then she does some digging. After finding some incriminating emails and knowing that she doesn't love him anymore anyway  she decides to leave him and her life of luxury once and for all. Filling for divorce in secret and then going into hiding because she knows once he finds out she knows about his secrets he will stop at nothing to get her back and not for love. Mandy gets a job at a place where she thinks he will never look for her and meets not one but two gorgeous cowboys. In the town she is in it is apparently normal for men to share their women and these two men are no exception. They go after her and she puts up no fight from what I could tell really.

I did enjoy the book, the sex scenes were great, hot and steamy even. The only thing I found to be a little hard to believe was how easy it was for her to fall so quickly for the two men, Vince and Cameron. I loved the story line and the way it was written, I just wish there was more of a problem with her getting together with the two men. I understand being attracted to both immediately but maybe morally she could have been a little more confused and hesitant of being with both so quickly. Instead of just going after them one after the other then together. As I said I did enjoy the book and I really loved how they went to rescue her when her ex kidnaps her and all the drama with their ex girl. Again I just wish there were a little more depth to the story. All in all I would rate the book a three and a half out of five stars.

To Sleep ... Perchance to Die

To Sleep ... Perchance to Die by Donald Grippo, published June 1, 2013. What can I say about this book to do it justice? I'm not really sure actually, I liked the book, don't get me wrong, but I didn't love the book. I can honestly say it was good, and even the cover grabbed my attention. That was why I had requested it in the first place. The way it was written just kind of confused me from time to time I guess was my problem. It would interest me then lose me somewhere along the way. I loved the plot to it, it was very gripping and I felt so badly for poor Bret who was only trying to be a good friend to Jake, who in turn ends up ruining Bret's life and career. As for Mai, I have so many things I can say about that character, she reminds me of someone I know. She was the perfect bad girl, conniving, slutty, sexy, she knew just what to say and do to get what she wants.  She first gets poor Jake to fall for her and plays the poor victim of a jealous and controlling boyfriend and gets him to do something terrible for her. When she has him convinced that she cannot be with him because he is Jewish and her family will not allow that she comes up with the idea to be with Bret but to really be with Jake the whole time. So together they play with Bret's emotions and drug him when they want to be together. They then get tired of him being in their "relationship" and decide to do away with him. What they do to him is just horrible and I felt mad at them for him. What he goes through while where he ends up is also horrible and unspeakable and what he ends up not doing says a lot about him as a person. Even after everything that he went through he still doesn't sink to the level that the people he loved did. I personally would have killed Sammy like he had planned to do. Overall I would rate this book a three and a half stars, only because like I had said I got lost so often.
